AG Orissa hockey team loses in final

Last year’s runners-up Jharkhand edged out host Orissa 1-0 in the final to emerged champions in the East Zone Audit and Accounts Hockey Tournament, which concluded at Kalinga Stadium here today. Manabahal Herenz slammed the all-important goal against the run of play in the seventh minute of the extra time. Principal Accountant General of Orissa, B R Khairnar handed over the trophy at the closing ceremony. Earlier in the lone semifinal, host Orissa humbled West Bengal 5-0. Saroj Toppo scored a brace, while Rajeswar Ekka, Abhaya Samantaray and Akshya Kumar Swain contributed one goal each. Only three teams participated in the two-day tournament, which was inaugurated by Accountant General of Orissa, Suparna Deb.
